Vice Minister Niu Dun meets high-level officials from CEE countries

Vice Minister Niu Dun held a collective meeting with high-level officials from Central-Eastern European (CEE) countries, including Mr. György Czerván, Minister of State for Agricultural Economy of Hungary, Ms.Dace Lucaua, State Secretary of Ministry of Agriculture of Latvia, Ms. Dalia Miniataitė, Chancellor of Ministry of Agriculture of Lithuania, Mr. Perica Ivanoski, State Counselor of Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy of Macedonia, Mr. Viorel Gutu, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry of Moldova, and Mr. Achim Irimescu, Secretary of State of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Romania on Sept. 11, 2013 in Hefei, Anhui Province. They had fruitful discussions on issues of common concerns at the meeting.

 

Those high-level officials were in China for the 8th Agro-trade & Economic Cooperation Forum between China and Central-Eastern European Countries, which was held in Hefei of Anhui Province from Sept.11 to 13, 2013.

 

At the meeting, Niu stressed that China and Central-Eastern European Countries have maintained sound political and diplomatic ties, and witnessed rapid development in agricultural cooperation.

 

To this end, he suggested that good efforts should be made in the following six areas: first, to enhance the working mechanism for bilateral cooperation; second, to advance information exchange; third, to intensify capacity building, fourth, to carry out pragmatic cooperation programs; fifth, to beef up agricultural trade; and sixth, to promote agricultural investment.

 

Delegates from all sides to the Forum spoke highly of Niu''s remarks and proposals. In their speeches, they expressed strong interests in working with China to broaden collaboration in agricultural trade, investment and S&T development, and making new contributions to improve bilateral relationships.
